As part of the Medicare Beneficiary Protection Project, Ohio KePRO helps Ohio hospitals
to accurately abstract data related to the quality measures that focus on inpatient processes, outpatient processes, mortality rates, and patient satisfaction topics, and to submit the
information to a national data warehouse on schedule. Medicare-certified hospitals
under the inpatient prospective payment system (IPPS) must meet data reporting requirements
in order to receive the full annual payment update. Other hospitals, such as critical
access hospitals, are also encouraged to participate.
The QualityNet website is
a comprehensive resource for the complex (and routinely updated) specifications
related to Medicare's hospital quality measures. The password-protected area of
the site, My QualityNet, is used to submit and review individual hospital's data.
